An Angel To The Rescue

A colleague sent me the story below and I couldn’t stop praying! It would bring tears to your eyes. Enjoy!Image

Dear Pastor and brethren,
I want to thank God for the opportunity of being present to give this testimony to the glory of God Almighty.
On the 10th of June, in the morning while driving on my way to my construction sites where I presently handle various building projects ads an Architect, I suddenly felt the urge to pray, but not really knowing where to direct my prayers to. Hence I started praying in tongues over each of my projects and workers against any mishap or evil. I prayed for several minutes focusing my mind on the sites and all to be done that day till I felt a knot loosen in my spirit, however after driving a few more minutes, I felt another heavy burden in my spirit which needed my attention. I later directed my prayers again to my projects but heard the holy spirit telling me to just speak mysteries to the day not knowing what I was praying about, this I did for several minutes again until I felt a victory note in my spirit.
After this the day went smoothly until it was evening and I had to go pick my wife and baby from school and work respectively. I had driven all the way from a site at Magboro till I was almost at Berger, exactly on Kara bridge when suddenly a jeep moving with very high speed from the fast lane crossed over to the slow lane where I was and hit my car from back left with so much force that it threw my car off the road till it landed on the bridge edge so that my half of my car was left dangling over the watery depths below and the other legs were off the ground on the other side.
The car was squashed and it was a miracle that I escaped completely and got out without a scratch.
Later a crowd gathered looking down the bridge for a passenger they claimed they saw jump out of the passenger’s side down the high bridge unto the grounds below. According to eye witness we were two in the car and they saw someone jump out the car through the other window. I kept on telling them I was the only one in it but the people around who claimed to see the other person were overwhelming. It was said that the person landed, stood up and walked away into the crowd. This was also confirmed at the police station by the policemen under the bridge which I denied any knowledge of, but no official report could be made because the person who they claimed walked into the crowd looking fit after falling from such a height could not be found or identified by anyone till date.
Till yesterday I was still confused about it until I had a dream last night that an angel had physically held my car in position preventing it from falling off the bridge after which he jumped below and went away. I immediately woke up to write this testimony and give thanks to God for this great deliverance which still baffles me as I honestly still can’t explain it. Our God still works wonders especially in this month of prayer. Thank you mighty Holy spirit my ever present helper.

Yours faithfully

My Encounter with an Armed Robber!

I remember that night like it was last night. I was walking towards my hostel, Manuwa hall when it happened. I had noticed that someone was trailing me all the way from the front of Mariere Hall but I had thought it was one of them ‘chykers‘ so I didn’t even bother to look back.

The front of Manuwa Hall was pretty much the same every night. Boys and girls mingled outside, with a few cars parked. Some walked into the hostel in pairs while some other female students just went about their normal business. I was on my way back from the first segment of our prayer meeting when the ‘armed’ robber attacked me.

I was a leader in the Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students, University of Nigeria Enugu Chapter and every Tuesday we had prayer meetings. That particular month, the leaders had decided to meet and pray for about 30 minutes before the general house would come. Anyway, after our thirty minutes segment, I decided to get to the hostel. The prayer meetings usually held at the field and I didn’t really want to hang around in the open air.

‘Hello excuse me’ he said

I ignored him and kept walking towards the door of the hall. He walked up to me and blocked my path, forcing me to look at him.

‘How may I help you?’ I asked, looking him the face.

He asked if I knew him and I replied in the negative. He said that he knew me and that I really had to be careful that I was always moving around with Cult boys. I was shocked. He asked that we step aside and talk and I followed him to under a tree a little distance from the entrance of the hostel.

‘You don’t even have an idea of who you are talking to’. I answered ‘Me ke? Cult guys?’

I then went ahead and gave him a very brief summary of my ‘religious status’ LOL. Anyways, the guy kept ranting and I decided that I had had enough and started to walk away but he stopped me again and told me to handover my handset. I stared at him, how did he know I had a phone? My phone was that small silver Motorola Talkabout T191 that one could hide in their palms. Then it dawned on me, I had made a very brief call while walking past Mariere hall, that must have made me a target. Hmn! I definitely was not about to give away my precious Motorola handset just like that, what would I tell my Dad? This was year 2003 and GSM phones were scarce and quite expensive.

Well, I refused to give him the phone and made to walk away but he told me that he had a gun and pulled something black out of his pocket. Then he grabbed my hand and tried to take the phone from my hand. At this time, the headlights of a car driving towards the hostel shone in our direction and I saw his gun clearly, however, I wasn’t about to let go so easily or rather, I didn’t think I should.

‘Thief!!! Leave my phone!!!!’ I heard myself screaming while holding on to my phone at the same time. I half expected him to shoot me!

‘Ole! Ole! Thief!’ Several male voices screamed from Mariere Hall and from around Manuwa Hall and next thing I knew, the dude was running. Wow! Was I shaken?! I really didn’t believe I got away that easy.

Well, I was really grateful to God that I didn’t loose my phone just like that. The boldness to stand my ground must have come from the HolyGhost. The people around me asked what happened and I narrated the story to them, they were all happy for me.

I finally made it to my room in one piece and handed over the phone to my friend and roommate and then went back for the concluding part of the prayer meeting.

You choose…

Life is a choice,
Enjoyment is an option,
Suffering is also an option.

You choose by what you say,
You choose by what you think,
You choose by what you do.

Your life is really up to you,
What are you doing with it?
Your response is your choice.

… to Sunset in Galicia, Espana.

... to Sunset in Galicia, Espana.

Got this picture from a dear friend, it’s his silhouette against the Sunset in Galicia, Spain.

So for today, we have:

‘From Sunrise in Texas to Sunset in Galicia, the Lord’s name shall be praised!’

Praise the Lord all his saints!

From Sunrise in Texas…

From Sunrise in Texas...

My sister took this picture of a colourful hot air balloon in the glorious morning sunrise on her way to work in Texas.

I get very emotional when I watch the Sunrise and the Sunset. The view of the beautiful golden rays of the Sunset cast on nature is simply breathtaking. Oh my God!

I remember vividly the golden yellowness of the Sun as it cast its rays on the green vegetation behind the female hostel way back in my secondary school! I remember with relish the majestic beauty of the early morning sunshine as seen from the windows of my room in Manuwa hall, during my days at the University. I would wake up in the mornings, raise the curtains and burst into worship. It was simply beautiful.

My secondary school is situated on a hill, overlooking green vegetation. I would stand for minutes in the evening on my way to the dining hall watching the Sun go down. Some days, I would sing this song with some lyrics from on Psalm 113:3;

‘From where the Sun rises, even to the place it goes down, we are giving you praise, giving you praise. From sun-kissed Islands, even to the place gold wind blows, we are giving you praise, we are giving you praise.’

Wow! So seeing this picture brought back so many memories. I’ve watched the Sun set in several places; at the beach, from the balcony in my parents’ home, from the topmost apartment in my parents’ country home, riding on top of the Third Mainland bridge, at the waterside of the Slave History Museum in Calabar and most recently from the balcony in my home. Oh! What beauty, what majestic splendor!

The Lord is good and worthy of praise!

Take some time this week to watch the Sun rise or set and spend some minutes praising God. I would love to have a picture of your sunset story, please mail it to me at thestorytela@gmail.com. Do include your location so that we can write our own version of Psalm 113:3. For now, my version would be:

“From Sunrise in Texas to Sunset in Lagos, the Lord’s name shall be praised”

Glorrrrryyyyyyyy!
