Life With My Boy: Meet my Twin!

Stepping out in Mama's Shoes

Found my semi-siamese twin after decades of existence. I call him semi-siamese because we are not permanently joined together but he sure can be a tag – a – long

Mummy I want to carry you’

What he actually means is ‘Mummy carry me’.

And then he follows me around the house; from the sitting room,  to the kitchen and to the bedrooms and when I finally escape into the ‘ladies’ or the bathroom,  guess who’s knocking at the door? Yeah right!

My boy would step in my shoes, try to wear my clothes and then we share my Orange wristwatch.  I wear it to work, and he takes over when I get home.

But I have 2 magical words for severing all ties:
Word Number 1: It’s time to bathe
Word Number 2: Time to Sleep

My toddler suddenly disappears and I end up being the one to look for him. LOL.

What’s your experience with the little ones in your life?

Life With My Boy: Princess Sophia The Bully

I remember one certain day, my 2 and a half year old son was watching Princess Sophia the First. He came to me trying to say something, I was finally able to deduce what he was saying. The following conversation  ensued;

Mom: Oh, you like Princess Sophia the First?
Son: Yes
Mom: Tell me about her
Son: Mummy, Pwincess Sophia beating me…

Okay now… Toddlers and their claim. If I spoke sternly to him, he would run to his Daddy and say Mummy is beating me and vice versa.

I wonder who he would be reporting next… Mickey Mouse,  maybe.

Life with my boy

My son is at that stage where toddlers say no to everything. Check out our conversation:
Mum: Ikem, sit down
Son: No, I not sit down
Mum: Okay, keep standing
Son: I not standing ( meanwhile he’s standing) phew!

At another time…

Mum: It’s time to bathe
Son: I not take ma bat
Mum: Ikem let’s get ready for school
Son: I not go to school (we finally get dressed)
Mum: Ikem, come and eat
Son: Okay! I’m coming!!!

Lol, what happened to ‘No, I not eat my food?!’

Just wondering….

An Angel To The Rescue

A colleague sent me the story below and I couldn’t stop praying! It would bring tears to your eyes. Enjoy!Image

Dear Pastor and brethren,
I want to thank God for the opportunity of being present to give this testimony to the glory of God Almighty.
On the 10th of June, in the morning while driving on my way to my construction sites where I presently handle various building projects ads an Architect, I suddenly felt the urge to pray, but not really knowing where to direct my prayers to. Hence I started praying in tongues over each of my projects and workers against any mishap or evil. I prayed for several minutes focusing my mind on the sites and all to be done that day till I felt a knot loosen in my spirit, however after driving a few more minutes, I felt another heavy burden in my spirit which needed my attention. I later directed my prayers again to my projects but heard the holy spirit telling me to just speak mysteries to the day not knowing what I was praying about, this I did for several minutes again until I felt a victory note in my spirit.
After this the day went smoothly until it was evening and I had to go pick my wife and baby from school and work respectively. I had driven all the way from a site at Magboro till I was almost at Berger, exactly on Kara bridge when suddenly a jeep moving with very high speed from the fast lane crossed over to the slow lane where I was and hit my car from back left with so much force that it threw my car off the road till it landed on the bridge edge so that my half of my car was left dangling over the watery depths below and the other legs were off the ground on the other side.
The car was squashed and it was a miracle that I escaped completely and got out without a scratch.
Later a crowd gathered looking down the bridge for a passenger they claimed they saw jump out of the passenger’s side down the high bridge unto the grounds below. According to eye witness we were two in the car and they saw someone jump out the car through the other window. I kept on telling them I was the only one in it but the people around who claimed to see the other person were overwhelming. It was said that the person landed, stood up and walked away into the crowd. This was also confirmed at the police station by the policemen under the bridge which I denied any knowledge of, but no official report could be made because the person who they claimed walked into the crowd looking fit after falling from such a height could not be found or identified by anyone till date.
Till yesterday I was still confused about it until I had a dream last night that an angel had physically held my car in position preventing it from falling off the bridge after which he jumped below and went away. I immediately woke up to write this testimony and give thanks to God for this great deliverance which still baffles me as I honestly still can’t explain it. Our God still works wonders especially in this month of prayer. Thank you mighty Holy spirit my ever present helper.

Yours faithfully

I, the Lagos Driver…

Image So you think you can drive? LOL! Have you driven a car in Lagos and escaped unscathed? The popular saying goes that in Lagos, people drive for two. In other words, you are not just trying to avoid hitting someone, you are also trying to avoid getting hit. Driving on some Lagos roads is indeed the survival of the fittest. LOL

I remember one day, in 2006 to be precise. I had gone to work on a Saturday and I was driving back home in the evening. I felt like a correct Lagos driver and I wove in and out of lanes, getting in front of other vehicles and feeling rather cool that I could achieve that feat.

This went on for a while and as I approached the second roundabout at Lekki, I did the unthinkable. I saw an approaching truck and instead of stopping for the huge truck to drive past, I got in front of it and guess what? The car went off at that point! Dear Lord Jesus!

Now, trucks in Lagos are quite known not to have functional brakes, that meant that the oncoming vehicle that I was watching from the rearview mirror of my sister’s beloved Red Golf which I had borrowed for that day may not have working brakes. At the thought of that alone, I started perspiring heavily as I frantically tried to turn on the ignition of the vehicle. The truck driver blared his horns non-stop as the truck got closer to me and when I couldn’t contain it any longer, I started praying in other tongues. At that point, the car came alive and I drove away as fast as I could! Phew!

Well, I learnt my lesson that day. And I quickly jettisoned my ‘Lagos Driver Mode’. Or did I?

Do you have driving tales? Horrible? A miraculous intervention? I would love to hear them all!
